Three Poems

by Gary Czerwinski

Thaw

The lake
Is back--

White caps
Oxygenating--

Kisses
Susurrousing--

Heaven
Heaved.

This lung
Scintillates

A frozen
No to

Yes--

Yes--

Yes--

I Want You

Near as autumn
Air

That ripens
And gleans

The green
Conspicuously--

Cornucopiously
Colors

Every
Crystal

Heartbeat
Hot.

Each falling
Leaf

Is
A breathless

Sigh--
I

Miss
Your touch.

Learning to Speak

When you
Went away

There was no
One

To
Phone--

No voice
To vowel

My consonant
Hollow--

No face
To replace

Familiar
Memory.

When you
Went away

My heart
Beat mute--

Each syllable
Ventriculating

To conjugate
The language

Of you.
