Viewing hints:

If you are using Internet Explorer 6 and a large image automatically reduces to unreadable size, just hold the mouse cursor over the lower right corner of the image, whereupon an icon appears that has arrows pointing outward in all directions. Click that icon and the reading matter should come back up to "reading size." The icon will still be available at that size to toggle the image back to reduced size.

If you're using Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox, passing the cursor over the image will turn it into a magnifying glass with a "+" sign which you can click for zooming in, and when zoomed in, the cursor will be a "-" sign which you can click for zooming out.

The number at the left of each photo title is a date in the format of YYMMDD, so that "401231" means December 31, 1940 and "430800" means sometime during August of 1943.

  Berniece Harris: "We did go to Cedar Rapids. Keith gave us a tour of the airplane and we socialized some and met his crew. It was real cold, and Keith had on his lightweight uniform. When they got ready to leave, the plane would not start, so they had to get some starter motors. Bob says it was so cold that the airplane motors would not turn over. The crew tried to start it by pulling the motor with ropes but that didn't work. We came on home, and they eventually got it started and went back to Biggs Field [El Paso, Texas]." [Berniece Harris is the wife of Bob Harris, Keith's brother.]
  
  Dorothy Harris Wright: "I had gone out with my folks to see Keith land in Cedar Rapids. It was pretty exciting because people were real interested in how the landing would go because the runway had been recently completed and several were expressing doubts about it being able to hold up with the landing of such a heavy plane. It certainly added to the excitement and we were so happy to see Keith make his usual good landing. It was a good visit." [Dorothy is Keith's sister.]
  
  Phebe Harris Thompson: "Being only 10 years old, probably the trip to Iowa was the most exciting thing. But I do remember how everyone was so relieved when the plane came to a halt and everything was okay. It was really frightening to hear people saying 'I hope the runway will support the plane.' I remember it was very cold also." [Phebe is Keith's sister.]
