Night Skyby Gayle Watsonof an early summer's eve I listen to the crackle and hiss of a small wood fire, its warmth caressing bared toes in the cooling air. Frogs peep their love songs in the stream nearby and blues music plays softly in the background as a gathered family of friends laugh and talk, enjoying the glowing flames. Essence of budding wildflowers mingle with tendrils of wood smoke, dancing sparks following, lighting their ascension to the heavens. Eyes soft and wide, I watch with joyful reverence as the first stars peek out from the deepening night sky. |
