Reflections

A Sonnet by DarkEyes
As evening falls, in twilight's gentle mist,
Within the arms of solitude's embrace,
Well-trodden paths of life I would retrace
To contemplate the reasons I exist.
Five decades and a year, I scroll the list,
To see my life with everything in place.
A life well spent, yet there's this empty space
Within my heart, a piece that I have missed.
Upon the looking glass I rest my eyes ~
More pearly strands within the ebony
Bespeaks the years and echoes every line.
Yet in an instant, stars light up the skies
As Love walked in, the rest is history;
My life complete when you said you were mine.
